I referee two games today at Mc Allister Park. They were U10 games. It was first game of the season for me. I need to get into the shape asap. My goal is getting grade 7 badge next year.
To get grade 7 badge you need to do 75 center referee and 25 Assistant referee.
Let me talk about today's games.
First games are always hard and U 10 games is not different. I was asked to call all slide tackles by the president. Ok. Fair enough. And it is not surprised that I gave one penalty kick for slide tackle...
One of the coach were not helpful and tried to suppress me and other coach and other team but that does not work if I am the referee in the field. He came to me during the half time. This is a trick every "clever" coach does. That does not with me neither.
In second half he continued to yell and as soon as I warned him he shut up.
I think to be a good referee you should not care when they yell or at least you should not talk with them when they try to surpress you. Just give them an angry look. That will tell them everything they need to know.
